If the saying, “you are what you eat” is true, then eating is a form of being, and we should put more thought into our food then simply thinking, “Will this taste good?”

Start Slow

Trying to make your diet healthy overnight isn’t realistic and it isn’t smart. If you change everything at once you’re more than likely to end up cheating or giving up on your new eating plan. Make little steps, like adding a salad to your diet once a day, or switching from butter to olive oil when you’re cooking.

Slowly, your small changes will become habit and you’ll be able to continue adding more healthy choices to your diet.

Don’t Have an All-Or-Nothing Mentality

Every single positive change you make to improve your diet matters. No one expects you to be perfect, and you don’t even have to completely eliminate foods that you enjoy in order to have a healthy diet. The long term goal is to feel and look good, have more energy, and reduce the risk of cancer and disease.

Don’t let any of your indulgences or missteps make you think that you should stop trying altogether.

Think of Water and Exercise as Food Groups

Just like you shouldn’t cut out any food group entirely, you also shouldn’t forget to include water and exercise in your goal for a healthy diet.

Water helps flush our systems of waste and toxins, and the benefits of lifelong exercise are a never-ending list.
